WHY?

The mindfulness community for those impacted by Parkinson's is flourishing rapidly. Why? Because these time-tested skills equip you with effective tools to create meaningful changes.

WHAT?

What does it mean to achieve resilience?

For those living with Parkinson's, achieving resilience involves empowering individuals to better handle the psychological and emotional hurdles of living with Parkinson’s. This includes cultivating improved emotional resilience, enhanced physical well-being, and stronger relationships. Emotional resilience enables individuals and their partners to face stress and uncertainty with greater confidence, fostering a more positive life perspective.

THE SIMPLE ANSWER: Mindfulness for People Living with Parkinson's and their Care Partner.

And you don’t need to:

Have prior experience or expertise

Mindfulness can often seem intimidating, but you don't need any prior experience or expertise to begin your journey.

Be Free from Physical Limitations

Mindfulness practices can be adapted to suit various physical abilities, so physical limitations aren't a barrier to starting.

Commit Long Hours

Even brief moments of mindfulness throughout the day can make a significant difference. A commitment of long hours isn't necessary to experience benefits.

Achieve Immediate Perfection

Mindfulness is a journey, not a destination. Immediate perfection isn't required; progress unfolds at your own pace.

The only thing you need, you already have!

Can I Really achieve resilience and improved wellness With One Body Scan?

Mindfulness is a skill that requires regular practice, much like learning to play a musical instrument. As you consistently engage in mindfulness exercises, your skills and abilities strengthen. Together, we embark on this journey of learning and practicing. Although it might seem improbable that a single Body Scan session could offer relief, over time, it can lead to greater resilience and improved well-being—even if you've been navigating Parkinson's for years. Many of our students have found that the Body Scan is an incredibly valuable and transformative tool.

I’ve been teaching mindfulness for people living with Parkinson’s and their care partners since 2006. In that time, I’ve seen initial skepticism towards mindfulness practices, concerns about participation due to fatigue, mobility issues, and varying stages and symptoms of Parkinson’s, as well as feelings of overwhelm at adding another activity to their routine. However, I’ve also witnessed significant improvements in emotional resilience and mental well-being, increased physical relaxation and reduction of stress-related symptoms, and strengthened relationships between individuals and their care partners through shared mindfulness practice. Moreover, I have observed improved adaptability and coping skills, integration into a supportive community that encourages compassion and connection through shared experiences, and have personally witnessed unexpected personal growth and fulfillment from guiding transformational journeys, surpassing anything I imagined.

I KNOW

I know what works. More importantly, I know what doesn’t work.

So the "Body Scan" I share with you in this video is one of the 3 foundational practices that we learn. It has been tried, tested and proven to work for many people living with Parkinson’s and Care Partners with different backgrounds and levels of experience.

YES,

Yes, even if you're skeptical about mindfulness practices and worry about fitting them into your already packed schedule. Even if you're concerned about participating due to fatigue or mobility issues. Even if you didn’t even know about the transformative power of mindfulness until today.
